HIV becomes noninfectious fairly quickly when exposed to the air, making
transmission through indirect contact with another person's bodily fluids (blood and
semen) rare - Body fluids that make intact to skin will not normally spread disease, but should be cleaned off as soon as possible
with soap and water.
infected blood used in transfusions, and infected blood products
used in the treatment of certain diseases and disorders - HIV is undectable
the 1st few weeks, it is possible (very small chance in North America these
days) that someone donated blood in this time
frame without being seen in a tainted blood screen test - HIV has been passed on through
blood products
(such as factor 8 used in the treatment of haemophilia) - if you know you need
surgery or some other treatment which requires blood transfusing, you can
arrange with your doctor to get the blood from you ahead of time!
transplanted organs from infected donors (very rare these days!).
coughing, not spitting, but sputum should be washed off when made contact
with the skin (Tuberculosis can be transmitted this way).
vomit(puke) can be washed off with no other major precautions taken, yet
open wounds, eyes, mouth, or mucus membranes can be rarely contaminated.
urine is not known to be a transmission method for HIV, although it
does contain antibodies in HIV+ persons - contact with skin should be washed
off just in case.
feces is not known to be a transmission method for HIV, although it
does contain antibodies in HIV-positive persons - contact with skin should be washed
off just in case due to other diseases, bacteria, etc.
sweat are not known to be a transmission method for HIV, no
precaution is necessary with contact, it is harmless.
sores which are oozing puss from wounds or rashes (clear/milkish
fluid and/or blood) are a high risk if in contact with a negatives persons mucous
membranes or breaks in the skin
precum and semen present same high risk
for HIV AIDS, HIV can be contracted from semen (cum, sperm, ejaculate) and pre-cum when in contact
with sores, open cuts, and blood.
HIV has been found in saliva(spit, mucous, drool) but only in minute
quantities, therefore risk is unlikely.
HIV has been found in the tears but only in minute
quantities, therefore risk is unlikely.
HIV often makes it way into the body via mucosal surfaces such as the
lining of the rectum, vagina and mouth.
the mouth and rectum provide HIV with a direct route to the intestine,
where the virus can reproduce.
If you
know someone who is risking exposure to HIV/AIDS or other diseases, try to
get him or
her to stop or get more information. If this is a commercial business, report
them to the
proper authorities for health concerns in your area immediately.
We focus on HIV/AIDS here, please respect the fact that other STDs, diseases,
viruses and
bacterial infections hold similar symptoms and other risks and facts that
everyone should be
educated on ..
This is attended for an adult audience as we are very "to the point" and use
many slang
words which may be offensive to some yet everyday language for others
Just because these symptoms sound like yours, it does not mean you have HIV
or AIDS as many
illnesses have similar symptoms. Anxiety about HIV could lead to feeling
fatigued, depressed
or other similar symptoms. Maybe you just have the flu? Many people get a HIV
antibody test
and find that there symptoms were probably related to everyday stress or
worrying they were
infected. Remember, you should always have unexplained, unresolved symptoms
checked out by
your doctor, or if you wish to be anonymous, look for anonymous testing
clinics or get a
home testing kit at the pharmacy.
