There are multiple
strains of HIV, some more
resistant to
meds than others.
It is possible for 1 HIV (HIV-1) infected person to get a different
strain (ex: HIV-2), now patient has 2 types of HIV.
- cross-infecting may cause accelerated immune damage.
- you must still use condoms even if you and your partner have HIV or AIDS.
- cross-infection posses the same risks as a negative person with exposure to HIV or AIDS risks.
- you may become medication resistant if you become infected with another strain of HIV.
