The AIDS crisis here in north america has been slowed by education, promotion of safer sex practices, the use of condoms and widespread testing. While these methods have been successful in wealthy industrialized nations, it is the very lack of these practices and supplies that have encouraged the spread of AIDS in much of the developing world. Clearly an increase in funding is needed. Much of the world is waging a war against AIDS. People are fighting for their lives. But a war cannot be fought without weapons. The UN says that seven to 10 billion dollars are needed for comprehensive treatment and prevention.

I strongly support additional funding for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS worldwide, and I urge you to do the same.
